Leo Baron (deceased 1985 or earlier)〔 was a Polish-born〔 British lawyer. After 1952 he worked in Rhodesia, later Zambia and Zimbabwe, sitting on the supreme court of each nation. Baron was born in Poland, the brother of historian and scientist Jacob Bronowski.〔 He was a squadron leader in the Royal Air Force during World War II. He became a lawyer and practiced extensively in Rhodesia, representing opponents of Ian Smith's regime, including Joshua Nkomo. Returning to Britain, he became a contract bridge champion and developed, in the 1940s, the Baron System of bidding. Afterward, he returned to Africa, being appointed to the Supreme Court of Zambia.〔 While on Zambia's Supreme Court he decided the controversial case ''Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula'', which ruled that the Supreme Court could not prevent the "likely" violation of Zambia's constitution. Later, he became legal advisor to the Zimbabwean black negotiators in the negotiations leading to the Lancaster House Agreement, which transferred Zimbabwe to majority rule.〔 After implementation of the Agreement, he was appointed as Chief Justice of Zimbabwe.〔 ==Publications== * ''Contract Bridge: the Baron system outlined'', Baron and Adam Meredith (London: Nicholson & Watson, 1946), 32 pp. * ''The Baron System of Contract Bridge'', Baron and Meredith (Leeds: Contract Bridge Equipment Ltd, 1948), 180 pp. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Leo Baron」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
